I was invited into the home of Janelle, the woman behind Paris Mountain Midwifery, to capture life with her new son. These sessions are magical to me. I’m invited, for a couple of hours, to witness and capture moments that are so fleeting they’re almost un-rememberable. They’re so overpowered by hormones, changes, and sleep deprivation that it’s hard to recall even the biggest of those first few moments. To be asked to sum up the beauty of new life immediately after a baby enters a family is an immense privilege. Women are at their most vulnerable and open, families are in the height of change, and siblings are at their most unsure during the first few weeks postpartum. I am so honored to be trusted in this space.
